  4. In the riding of Hants East, Progressive Conservative Ernest M. Ettinger's 1-vote lead on election lead became a 1-vote lead for the Liberal's Alfred E. Reid after a judicial recount. After an appeal, a judge then decided to throw out the results of the general election; a by-election was held several months later to fill the seat and was won by Reid.
