  1. Note: Kirk Baptiste had originally won the race from lane one in the time of 20.38, but was later disqualified for taking a couple of steps outside his lane at the beginning of the straight.
  2. The African team was disqualified as their anchor leg runner dropped the baton in the last metres of the race while fighting with the US team for the first place
