The 2000 Welwyn Hatfield District Council election took place on 6 May 2000 to elect members of Welwyn Hatfield District Council in Hertfordshire, England. One third of the council was up for election and the Labour Party gained overall control of the council from no overall control.^[1] Overall turnout in the election was 31.71%, down from 33.09% in the 1999 election.^[2]

After the election, the composition of the council was:

Labour 25
