All-Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group

The All Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group is a UK Parliamentary group with a membership of more than 116 MPs and Peers[1]. Its stated aim is to 'encourage wider and deeper enjoyment of jazz, to increase Parliamentarians’ understanding of the jazz industry and issues surrounding it, to promote jazz as a musical form and to raise its profile inside and outside Parliament'. The joint chairs are John Spellar MP and Lord Mann, the secretary is Sir Greg Knight and the groups treasurer is Ian Paisley. The group runs an annual awards ceremony called the Parliamentary Jazz Awards and supports the Jazz Radio UK campaign. The groups secretariat operate on a strictly pro bono basis with no expenses being paid to the secretariat[1].
