Description

La statue "Havis Amanda" érigée en 1908 au centre d'une fontaine sur la place du vieux marché, est devenue le symbole de la ville d'Helsinki en tant que nymphe, fille de la mer.

Pour satisfaire la commande de la ville, le sculpteur : Ville Vallgren (1855-1940), très célèbre à la Belle Epoque, a sculptée cette statue en France où il travaillait.

Une polémique s'est développée au moment de l'inauguration de la fontaine en 1908, en raison de la nudité jugée scandaleuse de cette représentation féminine.
