Accession: 2000-158-19 Medal, Olympics, 1920, Antwerp, Gold 2.35" Diameter

One of four gold medals awarded to Captain Carl T. Osburn at the 1920 Olympics. He was awarded gold medals for: free rifle team, 300 and 600M free rifle team prone, army rifle 300m standing, 300m free rifle prone team. He was also awarded a bronze medal for 100m running deer single shots team and a silver medal for, 300m free rifle standing team. The medal was designed by Josue Dupon and features a monument to the mythical Roman Soldier Silvius Brabo, who was said to have thrown the hand of a toll charging giant into the River Scheldt at Antwerp. The medal is marked with the competitors name, "C.T. Osburn."
