Assassination_of_President_Lincoln_(color)_-_Currier_and_Ives.jpg

This is a retouched picture , which means that it has been digitally altered from its original version. Modifications: Specks an stains removed, rotated, staining on borders fixed, slight tweak to levels as some details were washed out. Note that it was fairly common to print on buff paper and use white ink for lighter bits, and I think that's what's happening here, so the paper shouldn't be too light. .

Summary

Description
English: Assassination of Abraham Lincoln , 1865, hand-colored lithograph on paper by Currier & Ives Lithography Company From left to right: Henry Rathbone , Clara Harris , Mary Todd Lincoln , Abraham Lincoln , and John Wilkes Booth . Rathbone is depicted as spotting Booth before he shot Lincoln and trying to stop him as Booth fired his weapon. Rathbone actually was unaware of Booth’s approach, and reacted after the shot was fired. While Lincoln is depicted clutching the flag after being shot, it is also possible that he just simply pushed the flag aside to watch the performance.
