English: This is not a photo of Emperor Meiji. It is a black and white version of a portrait of Emperor Meiji in circa 1907, painted by Takagi Haisui in 1914-1915 (for the original portrait, see the image below). In addition, there are some black and white versions of the original portrait, but none with shading like this image.
日本語: これは明治天皇の写真ではない。高木背水が1914〜1915年に描いた明治末期(日露戦争後、1907年頃)の明治天皇の肖像画(下の画像を参照)を、白黒加工したものである。なお、この肖像画の白黒版はいくつか存在するが、この画像のような陰影のものは見当たらない。
