Le pont représente le pont de Neuilly édifié de 1768 à 1774 par les architectes Chézy et Dumoutier, sous la direction de l'ingénieur Perronet. Le vaisseau, quant à lui, évoque l'histoire portuaire de Neuilly. Enfin, les fleurs parmentières rappellent le souvenir des premières cultures de pommes de terre réalisées au 18
e
siècle dans la plaine des Sablons par l'apothicaire Parmentier.
Les armoiries ont été adoptées par délibération du conseil municipal du 19 janvier 1900, suite à une demande du Préfet de la Seine lors de l'exposition universelle de 1900.
