Description

Italiano: La parete di fondo della Cappella Ducale, nel Palazzo Ducale di Genova, è occupata dall'altare in marmo, circondato da vere colonne in marmo uguali a quelle dipinte sulle altre pareti. Due finestre si aprono tra le colonne a fianco dell'abside, permettendo alla luce esterna di illuminare l'ambiente. Inizialmente dietro l'altare si trovava una pala di Giovanni Battista Paggi, donata dallo stesso pittore alla città nel 1603, raffigurante La Madonna con il bambino tra i santi Giorgio e Giovanni Battista. Nel XVIII secolo la pala fu sostituita da una scultura di Francesco Maria Schiaffino, raffigurante "La Vergine regina di Genova".
