The original (1912) drawing of the Commonwealth Coat of Arms shown at Australian coat of arms 1912 , with the background made transparent.

The Coat of Arms is the official symbol of Australia. The initial coat of arms was granted by King Edward VII on 7 May 1908 , and the current version, shown here, was granted by King George V on 19 September 1912 . This page was sent to the Prime Minister's Department with the following note: His Excellency the Governor General directs the publication, for general information, of the enclosed certified copy of the Royal Warrant granting Armorial Ensigns and Supporters to the Commonwealth of Australia. Andrew Fisher , Prime Minister.
Date The arms were granted in 1912. The page bearing the note is dated 18 January 1913 .
