« The arms are a combination of the old arms of Krefeld and Uerdingen. The historical arms of Krefeld show the patron saint, St. Dionysius, with in front of him the arms of Moers. Krefeld was in the territory of the counts of Moers. The arms are known since the 14th century. After the merger in 1930, the new city adopted arms in 1931 with the old arms of Krefeld and Uerdingen combined per fess (=horizontally). In 1950 this was replaced by the combination per pale. »
