Summary
Description Defaced ballot (Dacă într-o țară electrificată) Tulcea MAN elections 1987.png |
English:
Protest vote for the Romanian Great National Assembly (MAN) in the early elections of Tulcea County, November 1987; voters were given a choice between candidates of the Front of Socialist Unity and Democracy, in this case two, both of them female. The unknown protester has crossed out both names and added his own commentary on the austerity policies of communist leader Nicolae Ceaușescu:
Dacă într-o țară electrificată nu se poate asigura 10 kilowați pe locuitor pe lună înseamnă că președintele ori e [?], ori e bolnav de cultul personalității
("If an electrified country cannot ensure 10 kilowatts a month per inhabitant, then it follows that its president is either a [?] or driven mad by the cult of personality").
