| Description |
English:
c/n 32513. Full US military serial 44-83872. Transferred to the US Navy in 1945 and given the Bureau No. 77235 (the same name:B-17G). Retired in 1956, she flew on survey work for the Aero Service Corporation between 1957 and 1967 before joining the Confederate Air Force (CAF) in Texas. She was based in Texas and was operated by the CAF, although the organisation has now been renamed as the Commemorative Air Force. She was tragically destroyed in a mid air collision with a P-63 King Cobra on 12th November 2022.
She is seen re-enacting a famous scene from the movie ‘Tora Tora Tora’ during a simulated attack by members of the Commemorative Air Force’s Pearl Harbour re-enactment group. 2019 Wings over Houston Airshow. Ellington Airport, Houston, Texas. 20th October 2019 |
