Physical description: 1 photograph : digital, tiff file, color. Notes: Designed by Foster + Partners under Pritzker Prize-winning architect Norman Foster, the opera house was engineered specifically for opera and musical theater performances as well as having special stage design for ballet and other forms of dance. The custom chandelier consisting of 318 internally illuminated rods, forming a 40-foot-high and 40-foot-diameter lighting fixture, retracts into the ceiling once a performace starts. Various configurations of the rods can produce several effects, such as a Christmas-tree shape, the inverse of what's shown here.; Gift; The Lyda Hill Foundation; 2014; (DLC/PP-2014:054).; Title, date and keywords based on information provided by the photographer.; Forms part of: Lyda Hill Texas Collection of Photographs in Carol M.
