Summary
Description EDWARDI VII (7247430400).jpg |
This one gave me a real "What the hell" moment! Thought that it was a triumphal arch erected for one of the visits of Edward VII to Dublin (1903, 1904, 1907) but didn't know where it was. I felt that it was a bridge over the Grand Canal, but just couldn't work out where. And how and when such a monument disappeared? Passed it over to you, and HibernoManchego came up trumps, saying it " would appear to be for the 1903 visit and was in Leeson Street . " Some absolutely fantastic information has come in on this one - see the comments below! Here's the inscription: EDWARDI VII D. G. BRITT. ET TERR. TRANSMARIN. Q VAE IN DITIONE SVNT BRIT REGIS F.D. IND IMP ANN SECVNDO EXOI TATVS ADES PORTAE PANDVNIVR AMICO |
