English:
A circular tree of life for the eukaryotes inside a pie chart of described species as of 2017.
No excavata or varisulca branches were included due to the complicated relationships between these and the unikonts and bikonts, and due to uncertainty in the number of described species in these taxa. The pie chart uses 393,927 for the total number of bikonts and 1,524,883 for the total number of described unikont species (of which 968,086 are insects - the first grey sector at the bottom and everything after it, going clockwise). However, the numbers of described species for some branches are approximate. |
