Description
English: A figure illustrating the organization of the Finnish conscription. The conscripts are inducted twice a year. After two months of basic training, they are sent for branch-specific enlisted training, or to reserve NCO school. The enlisted receive two months of basic branch-specific training and two months of training as a combined-arms organization, in full war-time formation. After six months, most enlisted are discharged and placed into a war-time military unit. Some enlisted with special training keep serving until they have served either nine or 12 months.

While the enlisted receive their branch-specific training, the NCO course has its first period. During this time, a portion of the conscripts are selected for reserve officer training. After 3½ or 5½ months of training in leadership and branch specific skills, the new NCOs and officer cadets return to their units, to train with their enlisted men. Ultimately, they are discharged with the enlisted of the next induction group. Like their men, they receive a position in the war-time unit with which they trained during their last 4 months of service.
