Summary

Description
English: Great coat of arms of Hungary (1849) ("Kossuth" coat-of-arms). The crown has been removed from the base of the double-cross. Sometimes shown with a laurel wreath replacing the crown, namely as the Great Coat of Arms of Hungary, with other shields surrounding. The so-called "Kossuth" coat-of-arms became the symbol of the short-lived First Republic of Hungary established in 1849 and led by Lajos Kossuth. The "Kossuth" coat-of-arms was revived in 1918 after the Great War, then after World War II and finally from the 1956 Revolution until 1990 when the crown was replaced at the base of the cross.
