Helmut Kohl (damaliger Bundeskanzler Deutschlands) im November 1989 in Krzyżowa (Polen) während einer feierlichen heiligen Messe an der unter anderem auch Tadeusz Mazowiecki (damaliger Ministerpräsident Polens) teilnahm. Die Deutsche Minderheit nahm ebenfalls sehr zahlreich an der Veranstaltung teil und trug Transparente mit Aufschriften wie
"Helmut, Du bist auch unser Kanzler"
(auf dem Foto nicht zu erkennen).
