Kononenko is at the end of the manual Strela crane operated by the commander. The telescopic crane has a mass of around 45kg. An orange safety lifeline along the length of the boom fastens the crew to the ship. 4 larger parabolic dishes and several smaller ones are part of the Kurs docking system. 2 black and white diamond shaped docking targets, a green periscope and an open extra-vehicular activity hatch can be seen in the image. The commander stands on the Pirs airlock/docking module and has his back to the Soyuz spacecraft . Zarya is seen to the left and Zvezda across the bottom of the image. |
