Description
English: This is the first official and national flag of California. This is a photograph of the last known Californian Lone Star flag adopted after California's first Declaration of Independence from Mexico, Nov. 5, 1836. It is currently held at The Gene Autry Western Museum.

Author Design apparently credited to Juan Bautista Alvarado (1809-1882), Isaac Graham (1800 – 1863), et al and reputedly inspired in part by Lone Star Flag precedents in New Spain's Florida and Mexico's Texas. (1945 photograph by Mark R. Harrington (1882 – 1971))
