Source for all maps: Schwartzberg, Joseph E. A Historical Atlas of South Asia (University of Minnesota, 1992), Plate III.B.4b (p.18) and Plate XIV.1a-c (p.145). There is one correction that has been made: Aria (Herat) was not part of the territory ceded by Seleucus to Chandragupta Maurya.

This version of the map has been modified in accordance with p. 69 of Kulke, H.; Rothermund, D. (2004), A History of India, 4th ed., Routledge, ISBN 978-0-415-32920-0 - which argues that the Maurya Empire did not include large parts of India, which were controlled by autonomous tribes. The doubtful areas were subtracted in GIMP by creating a transparency mask and applying it to all frames of the Maurya Empire.
