Deutsch:
Die Vorderseite zeigt ein Porträt Niebuhrs im Profil nach links Umlaufend ist sein Name in latinisierter Form angegeben. Der Medailleur Ferdiand Helfricht signierte unterhalb des Porträts.
Die Rückseite wird ganzheitlich von einem lateinischen Text ausgefüllt. Einerseits stellt diese eine Ehrbekundung an Niebuhr dar, andererseits nennt sie den Anlass für die Prägung: Die fünfte Versammlung deutscher Philologen und Schulmänner 1842 in Ulm.
English:
The front side depicts a bust of Niebuhr surrounded by his name in Latin. The engraver Ferdiand Helfricht signed below the bust.
The back side consists only of a Latin dedication to the late Niebuhr. In the bottom of said text the occasion for strucking this medal is named as the convention of German philologists when it was held 1842 in Ulm.
