The map shows the division of Norway after the Battle of Svolder according to Heimskringla. Eirik Hákonarson ruled the purple area as a fief from Svein Forkbeard. The yellow area was held by his half-brother, Svein, as a fief from Olaf the Swede while the red area was under direct control of Svein Forkbeard.
