Summary

Description
English: Down holiday express on Midland lines at Spital Bridge.
View southward, towards Peterborough North station, with the site of the ex-Midland Spital Bridge Locomotive Depot (closed 1/2/60) on the right. On the left are the East Coast Main Lines from Grantham and the North. The train is the 11.00 Yarmouth (Vauxhall) to Leicester (London Road), which until 1958 would have run by the more direct Midland & Great Northern route: here it has two 4F 0-6-0s at the head, Nos. 44403 and 43969. For the scene is the opposite direction see 2178990 .
