Siegel des Hochmeisters des Deutschritterordens. S(igillum) Mag(ist)ri General(is) Hospital(is) S(ancte) Marie Theut(onicorum) Ier(oso)l(o)m(i)tan(i) . Seal of the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order. The seal dates to the 13th century, and was attributed by tradition to the order's second Grand Master, Otto von Kerpen (r. 1200–1208). It was in use for more than 200 years, and was eventually replaced in 1498 by Grand Master Frederick, Duke of Saxony.
