Standing Bodhisattva Dedicated by Buddhamitra Year 2 of Kanishka. Kausambi statue inscribed Kanishka Year 2. A pile of lotus flowers between his feet. "One, inscribed in the regnal year 2 of King Kanishka and dedicated by a nun called Buddhamitra, , was set up at Kausambi" in Idea and image in Indian art - Page 21.
Inscription: "In the 2nd year of the reign of Kanishka, Bhikkhuni Buddhimitra put up this Bodhisattva at this place sanctified by the Buddha's several visits." Early History of Kausambi p.xxi . This statue is very similar to the Bala Bodhisattva of Sarnath. |
