Summary

Description
English: The Glen Yard. Taken from Dougliehill Terrace, this scanned image from around 1986 shows the Goliath gantry crane which straddled the slipway. The vessel under construction is the semi-submersible drilling platform Ocean Alliance, which I believe was the last vessel to be built there.

The tall, red, cranelike structures to the left were the hydraulic lifting system that was used to jack the heli-deck into its final position. This work was carried out by workers from Sweden who were employed by a Swedish engineering company.

The scene is unrecognisable today 1057301 is a photo of the same area (slightly west), but from a different viewpoint, taken in 2008.
