Notes |
English:
The portrait is derived from Holbein's 1532
portrait of Cromwell
(Frick Collection, ref.
1915.1.76
) but shows him looking older. A
similar miniature, with the Garter collar
, survives (National Portrait Gallery, ref.
NPG 6311
). This one is attributed to Holbein by the National Portrait Gallery, but most scholars do not include it among Holbein's original works.
