Фахівець з історії Східної Європи та, зокрема, історії України, Польщі, Росії. Займається переважно історією XX століття. Дослідник націоналізму, тоталітаризму та голокосту. Дійсний член НТШ-Америка. Автор 8 монографій, у тому числі широковідомої в Україні книги Криваві землі: Європа між Гітлером і Сталіним (2010).

Timothy David Snyder at the public lecture at Lviv Publishers’ Forum-2014. Timothy David Snyder (born in 1969)[2] is an American historian, author and academic specializing in the history of Central and Eastern Europe, in particular – Ukraine, Poland and Russia, mostly focused on history of XX century, the researcher of nationalism, totalitarianism and Holocaust. He is a professor at Yale University, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.He’s author of 8 books on history, including famous in Ukraine “Bloodlands. Europe Between Hitler and Stalin” (2010)
