County constituencies in England, Wales, and Ireland all returned two members. Hatched colouring on county constituencies therefore means that said constituency returned 1 member from each party whose colour is used. The exception to this is Yorkshire, which returned 4 members. Hatched colouring on Yorkshire therefore represents a return of equal numbers of members from both parties (2 Whigs and 2 Torys). Scottish county constituencies returned only 1 member each.

Burgh constituency members are represented by circle segments. A circle broken into 2 segments therefore returned 2 members, whilst a circle without any segments returned a single member. Scottish burgh constituencies were different however, and burghs were grouped together in what were known as "Districts of Burghs." Under this arrangement several towns together elected a single member. This is represented on the map through the use of a slightly smaller circle.
