English:
Corner of the orphanage of the Chiesa della Pietà in Venice where the foundling wheel once stood. The inscription states: "The Lord God strikes with curses and excommunications those who send or permit to be sent their sons, or daughters if legitimate, as bastards to this Hospital of Piety having the means and power to raise such, being obligated to compensation of any damages and expenses incurred for them, neither may they be absolved if this is not fulfilled, as appears clearly in the bull of our lord Pope Paul III dated 12 November 1548."

"Fulmina il signor Iddio maleditioni e scomuniche contro quellì quali mandano, ò permettano sÿno [siano] mandati li loro figlioli, e figliole si legittimi, come naturali inquesto Hospedale della Pietà havendo il modo, e faculta dipoterli allevare, esséendo obligati al resarcimento diogni danno, e spesa fatta per quelli, ne [né] possono esser assolti se non sodisfano, come chiaramente appare nella bolla di nostro signor Papa Paolo Terzo data adi. 12 novenbre l'anno 1548."
Deutsch:
Es schlage der Herrgott mit Fluch und Exkommunikation diejenigen, welche ihre Söhne und Töchter, seien sie illegitim oder natürlich, senden oder erlauben sie zu senden in dieses Ospedale della Pietà, wenn sie fähig und in der Lage sind, diese aufzuziehen. Sie sind verpflichtet, alle Schäden und Ausgaben zu erstatten und ihnen kann nicht vergeben werden, wenn sie dies nicht erfüllen, wie es ganz klar in der Bulle unseres Herrn Papst Paul III. erscheint.
