Summary

Description Despite being a city of around 2 million inhabitants, almost every quarter in the medina (old area) of Sana'a has its own community garden where palm trees and vegetables are grown for the benefit of the population. The traditional methods to store irregular rain water have so far been sufficient to sustain the population and irrigate the gardens, but things are changing fast. The poorly effective dams in Yemen are now struggling to supply water for the ever growing population of the city.
