В октябре 1970 г. Советский Азербайджан отмечал свое 50-летие (празднование было перенесено на осень из-за торжественных мероприятий к 100-летию В.И. Ленина). Курсанты и офицеры училища принимали участие в параде войск Бакинского гарнизона, посвященном юбилею. Показав высокую строевую выучку, все участники парада получили благодарность от министра обороны СССР Маршала Советского Союза А.А. Гречко.

Впереди идут слева направо: полковник Чурилов Илья Кириллович, зам. начальника училища; полковник Смазилкин Василий Спиридонович, командир 4-го курсантского батальона; полковник Злодеев Иван Васильевич, командир 1-го курсантского батальона.
