In the morning of October 20, 2017, an unnamed 14-year-old student of the private school Goyases, in Goiânia, Brazil opened fire against his classmates with a .40-caliber Taurus PT100 pistol, leaving two dead,[1] and four injured.[2] He tried to commit suicide[3] but was convinced not to by a school teacher, being arrested minutes after the incident.[4]
In testimony to the local police, he claimed he had been obsesssed with Adolf Hitler and was inspired by the Columbine High School massacre and the Realengo school shooting. The police investigation stated that the teenager suffered bullying from his classmates.[citation needed]
