Overview

Haval Chitu rear

The Chitu was presented as the successor of the Haval F5 in February 2021.[2] Sales of the Chitu started two months later at Auto Shanghai in China two months later.[3]

The term Chitu is the Chinese word for "red hare" in English.[4] This makes the Chitu, after the Big Dog, the second model of the brand to be named after an animal.

Powertrain

The Haval Chitu is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine tuned to produce 150 hp (112 kW; 152 PS) and 220 N⋅m (160 lb⋅ft) of torque, and a more powerful version tuned to produce 184 hp (137 kW; 187 PS) and 275 N⋅m (203 lb⋅ft; 28.0 kg⋅m), paired with a DCT transmission. A hybrid variant is also available with a combination of 1.5-liter gasoline and an electric motor, developing a combined power of 190 hp (142 kW; 193 PS).[5]
