Hir (Persian: هير), also Romanized as Hīr,[3] is a city in, and the capital of, Hir District of Ardabil County, Ardabil province, Iran,[4] It also serves as the administrative center for Hir Rural District.[5]

At the 2006 census, its population was 2,588 in 663 households.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 2,521 people in 719 households.[7] The 2016 census showed a population of 2,080 people in 681 households.[2]
