- Refers to mainland China and excludes the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau.
- Asian population excludes Western New Guinea.[5] Transcontinental country mainly in Southeast Asia and partly in Oceania.
- Asian population excludes East Thrace.[13] Transcontinental country straddling Western Asia and a small portion of Southeast Europe.
- Asian population includes only the Ural, Siberian and Far Eastern federal districts comprising North Asia.[20] Total population includes the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. Russia is a transcontinental country straddling Eastern Europe and Northern Asia.[21][22][23]
- Taiwan is a widely but partially recognised country.
- Asian population excludes the portions of West Kahakhstan and Atyrau that lie entirely west of the Ural River.[34] Transcontinental country mainly located in Central Asia and partly in Eastern Europe.
- Asian population excludes the Guba-Khachmaz Economic Region.[39] Transcontinental country straddling Western Asia and Eastern Europe.
- Comprises the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Palestine is a widely but partially recognised country.
- Transcontinental country mostly in Western Asia with a small part in Eastern Europe.
- Asian population includes only North Sinai, South Sinai, Port Fuad and El Qantara El Sharqiya which all lie on the Sinai Peninsula.[59] Transcontinental country mainly in Northern Africa and partly in Western Asia.
