List of specialized agencies of the United Nations

United Nations Specialized Agencies are autonomous organizations working with the United Nations and each other through the co-ordinating machinery of the United Nations Economic and Social Council at the intergovernmental level, and through the Chief Executives Board for co-ordination (CEB) at the inter-secretariat level.[1][2][3]

The United Nations Office at Geneva in Switzerland is the second biggest U.N. centre after the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

One of the principal objectives of the U.N. is to solve economic, social, cultural and humanitarian problems through international cooperation. Several specialized agencies have been set up to achieve these goals, agencies which may or may not have been created by the United Nations, but they are incorporated into the United Nations System by the United Nations Economic and Social Council acting under Articles 57 and 63 of the United Nations Charter. At present, the U.N. has in total 15[4][5][note 1] specialized agencies that carry out various functions on behalf of the UN. The specialized agencies are listed below.[8][9]
