Shikanji or Shikanjabeen is a lemon-based drink originating in the northern part of India.^[1] Historically it was called as sherbet-e-shikanjavin. Alternative names include shikanjvi, shikanjbi and shikanjbeen. Shikanji is distinct from lemonade, and often contains other ingredients such as salt, saffron and cumin.^[2]

Beyond its origins in India, Shikanji has also become very popular in Pakistan, where it is enjoyed as a refreshing beverage, especially during the hot summer months.
