Paveh (Persian: پاوه, romanized: Pâve and Kurdish: پاوە, romanized: Pawe), also Romanized as Pāveh, Pawah, and Pāweh,[3] is a city in the Central District of Paveh County, Kermanshah province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district.[4] The inhabitants of Paveh are Kurds and speak Hawrami (also:Gorani). They follow the Shafi‘i branch of Sunni Islam. It is in a region called Hawraman.[citation needed]
At the 2006 National Census, its population was 19,774 in 5,171 households.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 23,704 people in 6,723 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 25,771 people in 7,932 households.[2]
The first language spoken by the population in the city is mostly Gorani language, but the language which is used in schools and offices is Persian, the official language of Iran in which almost everyone in the city is fluent.
