Career

Mahadevan worked in many Telugu films under the stage name of Ramaraju before getting his breakthrough portraying the antagonist in the Tamil film Pithamagan (2003) by Bala.[1] The film's name has subsequently been used as a prefix to his stage name to distinguish him from other artistes called Mahadevan.[2] Regarding his performance in Muruga (2007), a critic wrote that "Pithamagan fame Mahadevan walks away with all honours. He lends solidity to the role".[2] He reprised his role from Pithamagan (2003) in the Kannada remake Anatharu (2007).[3]
