Infobox dam
There is a discussion concerning usage of flag icons within template:Infobox dam, similar we had for template:Infobox power station. There was earlier consensus that in case hydroelectric power station has also a dam, it uses template:Infobox dam instead of template:Infobox power station as power generation information is integrated into dam infoboxes. Therefore, the discussion is relevant also for this Portal. Your comments are welcome. Beagel (talk) 08:07, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
Categories for Pipelines (Oil & Natural Gas)
Please see my proposal to rationalise and separate the listing of oil and natural gas pipelines by country, access discussion via Category:Pipelines in Germany. Hugo999 (talk) 14:29, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
In the second paragraph article: "Ion thrusters' exhaust velocity are often in the range of 15–50 kilometres per second (1,500–5,100 s), and will have a specific thrust usually below a newton per tonne. Thruster efficiency may reach 60–80%."
@Vyacheslav84: I suggest you either edit the article again yourself, or post at Talk:Ion thruster. Not many editors will see messages left on this "portal talk" page. -- John of Reading (talk) 07:10, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
Suggestion for "Explore topics & categories" section of portal
The Environmental Impacts section seems to be under the Fossil Fuels section. This seems to me to be somewhat misleading. Dams used for hydro-power can change the course of rivers or other water sources and negatively affect the nearby environment, and places downstream. Making bio-fuels requires cutting down plants, which would otherwise have helped with reducing carbon levels. Windmills can hurt many birds that fly though the area they are in. And these are just some environmental impacts with renewable power sources that I can think of off the top of my head. I am definitely pro-renewable power, but I still think that placing environmental impacts right beneath fossil fuels only is misleading. I wanted to say this in case someone has any objections, and also because I'm not really good with behind-the-scenes stuff.:) JonathanHopeThisIsUnique (talk) 19:44, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
The project was rebooted and completely overhauled on April 17th, 2018. Its goals are to revitalize the entire portal system, make building and maintaining portals easier, support the ongoing improvement of portals and the editors dedicated to this, and design the portals of the future.
As of May 2nd, 2018, membership is at 60 editors, and growing. You are welcome to join us.
Could we possibly change the color scheme for this portal? The supersaturated indigo combined with the white in regular intervals is an eyesore. Is this just me? It's almost unreadable. Josprien (talk) 21:19, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
Done. @Josprien: Check it out now; changed the background color in the headers to a light yellow, with black text. North America1000 23:41, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
