Arends has a career-high ATP doubles ranking of world No. 55, achieved on 16 July 2018, and also attained his singles career-high ranking of world No. 1057 in January 2015. He has won one doubles ATP title with David Pel. Arends competes mainly on the ATP Challenger Tour and ITF Men's circuit where he has won 31 titles including 20 Challengers. He also reached two ATP doubles finals partnering Matwé Middelkoop and one with David Pel.
