I would vote for this to go, or at least to be changed considerably in content. The topics verge on offensive caricature; they certainly present a very lopsided view of England. If it is to be kept, I think some thought should be given to the purpose the navbox is supposed to serve. I do not whether I missed anything in the discussion, but I really dislike the new design of this template, which I believe ought to be kept in the same design as all of the other templates for the home nations of the United Kingdom. As well as providing continuity, the design is also a nicer layout and I would prefer that this be restored.

There is already a template for topics on Northern Ireland, based on the designs of the topics of all of the Constituent countries. The template was created for use in the Northern Ireland article, the Northern Ireland portal and the Northern Irish Wikipedians' notice board and no notice was given on the template's talk page about any AfD discussion. --Mal 08:49, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

You do know that the French call us rosbifs? (Fairs fair, we call them frogs or froggies) if you would expect a reference to snails & frogs legs when discussing french cuisine (& I would) then I think roast beef sould be mentioned when discussing the English. I'm still not convinced that it is notable enough to be in a topic box, especially when it's such a poor page. As the above commentator suggests, there are a number of English dishes and drinks that are culturally important. I have changed the reference to link to British cuisine. Saint Alban was added to the template earlier today with the summary "in 2006 some Church of England clergy suggested that Alban should replace St George as the patron saint of England." While this is true, I wonder if this potentially leaves it open to include several English/British saints - Cuthbert, Swithun, Aidan, etc, which could become a bit unmanagable.
