I just removed a link to edit this template that was inserted into the top of the template. It's definitely not standard to include an edit link in a template such as this (see here for other examples). I see why someone might think an edit link is useful: to edit a template someone usually has to manually locate the template page and then edit it from there. I think, however, that it should be a little bit harder to edit templates, making thyem a bit less fluid than articles, and that inserting a link to edit an article of any kind directly is non-standard in general... I'm sure there's a long-standing discussion on this, but I can't find it! Agree or disagree? Tarnas 02:22, 6 September 2005 (UTC)

I find the number of sub-genres of music here ridiculously comical.

Gothcore removal

I've removed the gothcore entry from the template, as the gothcore article has been deleted, over lack of verifiability as a widespread musical genre. The deletion debate can be found at this wikilink. Saberwyn - 06:25, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Reformatted

I fixed it up so it would be structured better, and I deleted dead links.Spylab 03:38, 14 September 2006 (UTC)Spylab

UK82

Shouldn't UK82 be under the regional scenes section rather than a subgenre? It seems that the qualifying difference of these bands are the geographic location... Possibly a rename to "United Kingdom" and a move to the lower section of the template are in order... thoughts? TearJohnDown 13:08, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Thrash metal

Just because if has hardcore influence, does not make it a sub-genre of hardcore, so i am removing it.

do try again. 24.139.31.210 (talk) 00:59, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

as stated in the hardcore punk article, thrash has a huge hardcore punk influence, like many other fusion genres listed in the template. "Hardcore spawned several fusion genres and subgenres, some of which had mainstream success, such as melodic hardcore, metalcore, sludge metal and thrash metal." and you can found the hardcore punk template in the thrash metal article, so it stays.--Kmaster (talk) 03:47, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
