Template talk:History of Cambodia

There seem to be a lot of edits to this page with no discussion on talk. I just reverted an image change and the removal of UNAMIC from the history list - I'm working on that article. In the future, please discuss changes here. Paxse 15:41, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Events

How does the Mayaguez incident and the Phnom Penh rioting of 2003 gain more notability than some periods of Cambodian history? I do not see how they are particularly important, they may have been highly publicized events but they were not highly pivotal events that changed the course of Cambodian history. And I feel like they should be excluded from the template for that reason. They received a lot of Western media coverage, obviously for the Mayaguez incident, it involved Americans. But there have been much more important events that shaped Cambodia, such as the bloody election events during 1997, which were more 'pivotal' than the 2003 riot. In the meanwhile, articles concerning the Longvek, Oudong, and Chatomukh (Phnom Penh) eras should be created and linked to, however there is very scarce English information on these periods. As you can see, for the periods during teh 1400 to the 1800s, there is only one article, the dark ages of Cambodia.

And that picture of Angkor Wat gives me a sense of tourism more than anything. How about a more historical image or try reverting it back to the Cambodian flag like most other national history templates. --Dara 16:17, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

The riots should not be there, Mayaguez probably not - the template is very messy generally and is used in some incorrect places. I agree at the moment it is more a 'popular culture' history of Cambodia list. I'll remove the riots and the Mayaguez for now and then think about the rest.

Funan

There is no exactly founding date of Funan, so we should write ss C. E. 1st century. 96.229.179.106 (talk) 07:08, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
