Size of the template

Excellent work, both on template and articles. However, isn't the template destined too become to big? The sport competitions are almost endless to add.--Eranrabl (talk) 12:07, 8 September 2016 (UTC)

In theory, but that would take a long time. By only listing years it would take a very long time unless many new articles are created, but I am not sure there are many more sports that articles could be created about. If it becomes too big, I think it can be addressed at that time. Its still much smaller than some like Template:Google Inc. Until it comes to that point, I dont believe there is anything to be done. - GalatzTalk 13:34, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
There are plenty of sports left: handball, volleyball, futsal, beach soccer, judo (most of the Olympic program, actually), karate, cricket, softball. There are also minor multi-sport events: Western Asiatic Games, International Workers' Olympiads and several minor ones (World Festival of Youth and Students and such, though information is thin on these). Also, I think that Athletics should be a separate category from multi-sport events.--Eranrabl (talk) 17:30, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
I agree with both your points there, there are all these other events, but since information is scarce it may not meet WP:GNG. Even if GNG was met it would be hard to get a good referenced article on the topic. I think the size of the template is an issue we can discuss when it gets to that part.
As for athletics I agree somewhat. I was slightly torn on where to put it when I went with multi-sport event. Ultimately though, that is what it is considered, but I see the argument against it. - GalatzTalk 19:27, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
