Why was the Laurier image deleted? It was clearly a public domain image of a political leader and historical figure. 23skidoo 17:15, 11 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I have removed all the images from the template as the majority are fair use and there is a strong drive to get fair use images off templates across the project.--nixie 23:35, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Fair use images should only be used in the article namespace. Used outside article space, they are often enough not covered under the fair use doctrine. They should never be used on templates (including stub templates and navigation boxes) or on user pages..--nixie 02:58, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
